Easy homemade Dalgona coffee recipe

Remember that trend that recently made the rounds of your social media feed? Dalgona coffee quickly became an Internet sensation! Its creamy mousse and light caramel flavour make for a true delight. We have an iced version that’s especially refreshing on a hot summer day.

And the best part? You don’t need to be a barista to make it. You’ll find everything you need right at home. Simply make your coffee and sip it on the patio, so you can take in the nice weather.

Ready, set, WHIP!

Easy to make, there’s just one rule you absolutely must follow: you need to use instant coffee—not ground coffee. This is the key ingredient for the creamy mousse this coffee is known for, and it makes for a most indulgent experience.

  • 2 tbsp. (10 mL) instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp. (10 mL) sugar
  • 2 tbsp. (10 mL) boiling water
  • 2 cups (500 mL) Laiterie Chagnon Barista milk
  • A few ice cubes

  1. 1. In a bowl, pour the coffee, sugar, and boiling water.
  2. 2. Whip the mixture by hand or in a stand mixer until you get a dense creamy texture (about 2 minutes). You’ll know it’s ready when it’s smooth, with a light caramel colour.
  3. 3. Taste and add sugar if necessary to cut the bitterness.
  4. 4. Pour the milk into a tall glass filled with ice cubes and top with your coffee mousse.
  5. 5. Enjoy!

Chocolaty delight

Have a sweet tooth? Simply sprinkle some cocoa powder, dark chocolate shavings, or even chocolate cookie crumbs onto your creamy Dalgona coffee mousse.

You can also add a touch of Laiterie Chagnon chocolate milk. Made with 5% whole milk, this chocolate milk is sure to become a favourite.

The 100% Quebec version

Add a local touch to your Dalgona coffee with a drizzle of maple syrup. You can even take it up a notch by flavouring your milk with maple, or adding some caramel and maple syrup to your coffee.

Decaf, please!

Looking for a caffeine-free version? Just use decaf!
