Child and Youth Mental Health - A Family of Support

Over the past decade, there has been a staggering 75 percent increase in the number of children and youth visits to Emergency Departments for mental health issues. While there is ample evidence that investments in prevention and early intervention have the greatest potential to reduce the impacts of mental illness, our society continues to focus its resources on acute care.

IGA is proud to contribute to A Family of Support: Child and Youth Mental Health Initiative to help give our Quebec youth greater access to the care they need. In partnership with Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations, this initiative is part of our shared desire to cultivate a healthy future for all. This campaign will be active for five years, with a target of $15 million to be raised across the country.

Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations represents 13 hospitals across Canada, including:

In Quebec:

  • The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation
  • CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation

In New Brunswick:

  • IWK Foundation

All funds raised will go toward supporting youth mental health initiatives in hospitals in their regions.
