- Roughly chop unpeeled apples, removing core and seeds, but leaving skin on.
- Simmer the apples, juice, and spices in a saucepan for about 35 minutes or until apples are very soft.
- Remove the star anise and cinnamon stick.
- Use a hand blender to purée until smooth.
