Montreal, March 4th, 2016 – Following the "GOOD FOR YOU - GOOD FOR US" campaign that was held from February 4 to 24 at all IGA stores in Quebec and New Brunswick, The Joy of Eating Better Foundation is proud to be donating $316, 900 to the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF). This donation, which helps the MHIF to invest in heart disease research that has been ongoing for thirty years, is made possible by the generosity of IGA customers, grocers, and suppliers.
A heartfelt 30-year partnership
The collaboration between IGA and the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation goes back a long time. This year's fund raising campaign marked a 30-year partnership that has been responsible for no less than $8.8 million in donations. "In addition to increasing public awareness, the GOOD FOR YOU - GOOD FOR US campaign has a real impact on the prevention of heart disease,” explains Mélanie La Couture, Executive Director of the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation. “All money invested over the past thirty years thanks to this annual campaign has enabled the Montreal Heart Institute to make major advances that help save lives."
IGA grocers wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to their customers. They are proud to contribute to this fundraising campaign that aligns with The Joy of Eating Better movement and its four pillars ‒ cooking differently and more often, discovering local and international flavours, eating healthier, and making responsible choices.
IGA is the largest group of independent grocers in Canada and its presence in Quebec dates to 1953. IGA retailers are constantly seeking new ways to serve their customers better. The IGA banner includes over 300 IGA, IGA extra, IGA express, and IGA mini stores. IGA is the only group of food retailers to offer consumers the opportunity to accumulate AIR MILES® reward miles. www.iga.net
